Wimbledon Park Side, London, UK, 2007

The proposal aims to repurpose the house designed by Sir Joseph Paxton circa 1860, originally Sir Edwin Saunders' London home, into residential units, ensuring the building's sustainability. This building, one of Wimbledon Park Side's last 'Villa dwellings,' has evolved through various adaptations, contributing to its unique charm and historical narrative.

Facing challenges in adapting to modern economic conditions and after transitions through institutional and office use since the 1950s, its long-term preservation remains critical. Listed in 1981 to avoid demolition, it now requires a sustainable use to secure its future.

We suggested converting the building into high-end residential units, utilizing the original house's grand rooms for large apartments and converting extensions into houses, reflecting the structure's historical adaptability. This approach aligns with the building's prestigious character and current environmental context, ensuring its maintenance and longevity.
