The Practice History - Based in the converted Sir Gilbert Scott National & Provincial Banking Hall, MMM architects is an award-winning architectural practice that has a long established reputation for innovative and inspirational architecture of exceptional quality. With an original background in Loft design after having worked closely with the Manhattan Loft Corporation, MMM have been instrumental in creating, expanding and proliferating the loft phenomenon, which has evolved from the initial modernist ethos to one that is applied to all bespoke private residences, commercial projects and individual buildings of high architectural merit. The practice has been running under the sole directorship of Matthew Ratsma since 2005, since setting up the firm in 1997 with Min Hitchcox and Mark Davison whom now leads the design studio at Yoo Ltd.
Practice Ethos - MMM architects Ltd is an RIBA Chartered Practice and is founded on providing an exceptional professional service to their clients. The Practice commits to each individual project, providing a bespoke range of skills and resources to facilitate the best possible outcome. Collaboration is at the center of the practice ethos, building a strong team from the initial meetings with the client through to the execution on site. Everyone is important to the process. Each commission is a unique response to our client's brief, budget and site. Our design approach is always underpinned by a desire for simplicity and elegance which is achieved through rigorous attention to detail.
The Design Team - We are a highly motivated group of creative individuals. There is a vibrant mix of professional skills and backgrounds, each contributing to the success of the practice. We work both locally and globally, completing projects mainly in London as well as New York, Miami, Austria, Paris, Delhi & Kazakhstan.
What we do - MMM architects enjoy the complex problems generated by difficult sites, and through these challenges we have gained a reputation throughout London for achieving successful Planning Approvals on sites which would have perhaps been previously overlooked. Working almost exclusively within the luxury housing market, MMM have delivered many single domestic projects for individual clients, together with many multiple unit schemes. Our appointment usually provides the role of "Lead Consultant" and "design leader", but have also supported projects as the client representative, and the interior designer. Providing the full architectural and interior design services allows us to have a greater impact on the project program, our services often extended to the full furnishing, and dressing of the interior spaces. The practice is proud that the majority of their commissions are achieved through repeat business and ‘word of mouth’ recommendations.
