The Factory Loft | 163
Shepherdess Walk, London, UK, 1999
Fit out of a shell penthouse by the Manhattan Loft Corporation. Named after Andy Warhol's infamous New York loft, The Factory is a loft development in its purest form. Located in a red brick building in the heart of an area with one of the highest concentrations of working artists in London, between Clerkenwell, Islington, and Shoreditch, the former Edwardian Print Works and warehouse was first repurposed as a storage depot for the British Museum, before finally being converted into 50 spacious lofts, including 13 penthouses. Highlights include a roof garden with hot tub, glass floor, and a folded steel plate staircase.
